A PORT Alfred pensioner told a court yesterday that he beat up his now-estranged wife Chrissie after she drugged his whisky.

Keith Green, 61, said through his attorney that she had spiked his whisky bottle with more than 50 paracetamol tablets.

His wife looked stunned, shook uncontrollably and gasped aloud as attorney John Porter read a statement by Green telling how he had drunk two large glasses of “funny tasting” whisky before going to sleep.

“At about midnight I woke up and felt very ill. I felt as if I was floating on clouds and my kidneys were very painful.”

Porter said Green realised something was amiss when he checked a container of paracetamol and discovered only 50 tablets were left from the 124 he had bought the previous week.

What a terrible waste of whisky! They didn’t say what make of whisky though.
