VisitScotlands latest advert was inspired by the desire to celebrate Scotlands Year of Homecoming in 2009. Dougie MacLeans classic song Caledonia was the obvious song for us to choose, not just because of the lyrics, but also because its a well loved anthem for many Scots. Singer Amy Macdonald introduces the advert singing in front of the backdrop of majestic Glen Coe and Buachaille Etive Mor. Triple Olympic medal winner Chris Hoy sings in front of the Glasgow Science Centre, in recognition of the Great Minds and Innovators of Scotland that will be celebrated throughout 2009. Actor Brian Cox stands in front of the mystical standing stones that make up the Ring of Brodgar on Orkney, depicting the ancestry and culture strand of the Homecoming Scotland celebrations. Golfer Sam Torrance sings in front of the 10th green at the Championship Golf Course at Turnberry, overlooking Ailsa Craig in the outer Firth of Clyde. Singer Eddi Reader stands in front of the classic Burns statue in Dumfries the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotlands national Poet, Robert Burns, being the inspiration for this year of Homecoming. Glasgow Warriors rugby players Thom Evans and Kelly Brown sing in front of the Strathisla Distillery in Keith, in recognition that May is whisky month during the Homecoming celebrations. Singer Sandi Thom sings in front of the shores of Farr Bay in Sutherland in the far north of Scotland. Actor Sean Connery sings in front of Edinburgh Castle. Singer Lulu sings in

Ah, its videos like these that make living in a squalid, sordid nation of overweight, raping, murdering, psychotic, bigoted, drug abusing lunatics worth while. It defiantly makes enduring the awful weather, insane national dress, artery-clogging foods and inbred locals worth it.
