My husband’s a whiskey guy. My understanding is that they are all whiskeys, but from different regions of the world. Bourbon is exclusively from Kentucky, and Scotch is exclusively from Scotland. There are also single malts and single barrels from various regions.

I personally prefer Jack Daniels with coke (which apparently isn’t true bourbon).

But a single malt (Glenfidich or Macallan) on the rocks or drunk neat is the best drink ever!

BOURBON with After Eight mint chocolates! The Super Utlra combination!!!!!!!!
Maker’s Mark is very smooth with none of the burn you get from some bourbons.

My friend loves bourbon and I want to get him some for his birthday coming up but I know nothing about bourbon. For example, if we were talking about scotch I’d get him Macallan 18 or something but does anyone drink bourbon out there and know what I should get? Thank you.

Question by proletariat: Scotch or Bourbon which one should I be a fan of?
Im still on the edge of deciding whether Im a bourbon or scotch man. To be fair I havent really found a bourbon I like as much as a good Laphroaig. I often find bourbon to be too shrill, like Bulleit for example. I like the mellowness of scotch and am slowly drifting away from my American roots. If anyone knows a great bourbon which would satisfy a peat head, mellowness lover to bring my taste buds home Im all ears

Question by Berniemacx: Who supplies the Talisker Scotch Distillery with the bourbon barrels they use to age their scotch whiskey?
I’m a big fan of Talisker scotch and I’d like to know more about what they put into the making of their scotch. My favorite bourbon is Makers Mark and I’ve heard that Laphroaig uses their barrels for aging their whiskey. It’s not a scotch I’ve tried but it’s made me more curious. It makes me wonder if there might be a correlation.

As the economy turns down, Americans are cutting back on their liquor – with a major exception: whiskey.
Sales of bourbons such Jack Daniels and Maker’s Mark are bucking a slump in sales of distilled spirits that set in during the final months of last year, according to industry officials.
It’s not clear whether in hard economic times drinkers are looking for comfort in Jack Daniels or whether Americans have just rediscovered one of the nation’s oldest spirits.
The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States said Friday that whiskey sales rose 4.3 percent by dollar value and 1.3 percent by volume.
