Question by mickietino333@sbcglobal.net: Why does Makers Mark whisky spell whisky without the “e”?
It is my understanding that bourbon is whisky make in the us and therefore should be marked as such with the spelling whiskey with the e. Why doesnt makers mark follow suit? I have my suspicions, but if anybody has some facts that’d be great…I havent even found out from the website.

Best answer:

Answer by Ukiah
Its so good, they dont need the extra e. Also by saving money on printing, they can put that money into making better whiskey.

Sales of bourbons such Jack Daniels and Maker’s Mark are bucking a slump in sales of distilled spirits that set in during the final months of last year, according to industry officials.
It’s not clear whether in hard economic times drinkers are looking for comfort in Jack Daniels or whether Americans have just rediscovered one of the nation’s oldest spirits.
