Having guests over to the house? It’s always fun to throw a party in your own home, but you want to make sure you make a great impression and have all the supplies you need to host well. When it comes to barware, you want to make sure you have the right glasses for the right drinks and enough to handle all your guests easily.

The two most well known and easily identified glasses are beer mugs and wine glasses. Beer mugs are common barware that almost everyone has, even people who doesn’t often drink beer! They tend to come in a large size, are made of glass and have a hefty weight to them. However, there are more glasses for beer than just a mug. Goblets are often used to maintain the head of the beer, which is that frothy goodness on top. Pilsner glasses are another choice, long and slender and made to show off the beers color and clarity. A pint glass is often common as well, with a traditional size of 16oz and smaller than the average beer mug.

Wine glasses are beautiful pieces of barware, shaped the way they are in order to really let a wine’s fragrance and taste permeate. They are the perfect glasses for wine tasting, but also just make your dinner spread look elegant. Red wine glasses tend to be shorter and rounder, white wine a bit taller and thinner.

Champagne flutes also fall into this category of wine glasses. They are those tall, thin glasses we often see around New Year’s Eve. Their shape is supposed to retain the carbonation, which is what champagne is known for.

Wine decanters are often used to hold and dispense wine instead of using just the bottle. They preserve the taste but also are just a beautiful display. Instead of hiding the wine inside a bottle, why not put it out for all to enjoy in a crystal or glass wine decanter?

For mixed drinks, there’s a variety of barware and glassware that can be used. Highball glasses are glass tumblers that hold about 8 to 12 ounces and are used to serve highball cocktails and other mixed drinks. Martini glasses are the small, wide rimmed glasses and are usually served chilled. They are also known as cocktail glasses. And of course, no kitchen could be complete without shot glasses for straight liquor or shots of mixed liquor.

Be aware of what drinks are served in what glassware and you’ll be set when your guests arrive. You’ll add a bit of sophistication to the night with the right, beautiful barware.

OYSTER RIVER – After years of dreaming about it, a group of Comox Valley businessmen have now started their own single malt whiskey distillery, the newest of it’s type in Canada. Shelter Point Distillery, located on a farm just north of Black Creek has fired up the boilers and is just days away from starting their first test batches. The partners toured several operations in Scotland while researching their plans and realized distillery tours were a huge part of several operations. They then upgraded their plans for the building that would house their operation. The result is an impressive facility that features luxurious tasting rooms, etched windows and several gas fireplaces. The men say the pride of the artisans and the craftsmen who worked on the building is evident throughout. Once the operation is fully up and running the partners will begin incorporating barley grown on the property just steps from the distillery. They will be testing a seed variety from the UK because the climate is similar to Vancouver Island.

Restaurants and bars are places in which people hang out and relax after a whole day of work. The atmosphere of the restaurants and bars are essential in ensuring the ultimate relaxation for the customers, not forgetting the food and beverages being served, which will add to the satisfaction of the customers. However, the glassware used by the bar are also important elements in helping to reach the satisfaction of the customers.

There are different types of restaurant glassware and barware available in most restaurants and bars. The glasses used depend heavily on the type of beverage being consumed. For instance, the beer mug is used to consume beer whereas the flutes are used to consume wines such as red wine and white wine. Therefore, a restaurant and a bar must equip themselves with the sufficient glassware to add the satisfaction and expectation of the customers when being served specific beverages and spirits.

A restaurant or a bar should provide the suitable barware for different types of customers with different needs. Certain customers prefer bigger glasses such as the beer mug to consume their beer; some customers might prefer shot glasses to consume their liqueur. Thus, it is important to figure out the wants of the customers to aid the restaurant and the bar in selecting the best glassware to be used in that situation.

Of course, in order to prevent boring and uninteresting atmosphere, it is also suggested that the glasses can be blend in with multiple colors. For instance, instead of using the transparent glass color only, restaurant and bar can consider to add in different types of transparent such as transparent blue, transparent red, transparent green, and so on, to add more colors to the atmosphere of the restaurant and the bar. The different colors presented can lighten up the surroundings by adding a splash of color to the dining areas. Besides, different individuals have different color preferences. Restaurants can also consider allowing the customers to choose their own glassware color preference. This will not only add to the customers’ satisfaction, it can also increase the mood of the customers and in the same time, giving them a positive impression they are sure to remember.

Apart from that, by using different types and sizes of barware, it adds varieties to the bar. As mentioned, there are many types of glassware available nowadays, such as shot glasses, champagne glasses, wine glasses, beer mugs, brandy glasses, whiskey glasses, martini glasses, drinking glasses, beer glasses, and so on. This glassware can be decorated in the restaurant or the bar, not only to inform the customers on the different types of beverages available in the place, but also to make the place look more creative and interesting.

Besides, these glassware are also creative items that can be used to replace the usual decorations of a restaurant with something much more relevant. The great thing about buying new glasses for your location is that you can easily find blank, colored, or personalized glassware at wholesale prices, when buying in bulk from a supplier. This makes finding all of the needed items easy to find, and budget-friendly.

At present company trademarks have made it difficult for small businesses and entrepreneurs to establish their brands. A logo design can help in development of a brand identity when used consistently. Only those products have endured for decades that have barely altered their logo design. Having the same logo design plays a crucial role in shaping the likeness of your brand.
Let us learn how some of the most durable brands in US have survived the test of times. Brands have also made a list of Wall Street’s most iconic logos. Some of these trademarks and logos dates back to 18th century that survives through the generations.
Johnnie Walker
Although Europe has their own specialty in wines, Johnnie Walker is an American whiskey that has confronted the best whiskeys for decades. Their logo is known for the “walking man” picture, formed by Tom Browne. This representation of Johnny Walker has remained almost the same in the past century. This constancy in the logo has helped the brand in strengthening their presence in the minds of the customers.
New York Times
The New York Times is the most durable and established newspaper in the United States. It is significant for its font that is used in its logo, which was set up in 1851. 160 years of presence as tabloid, the logo has undergone significant changes, albeit the style is immutable. The main change was to simplify the name to The New York Times in 1857. Other slight changes included the elimination of the “period” in 1967.
Coca Cola
Although Coca-Cola was formed as a medicine, it proved to be the most flourishing American drink. Coca-Cola logo was created by the owners accountant Frank Mason Robinson in 1885. He invented the word and the selected logo in cursive, known as Spenserian script. Although the packaging of Coca-Cola has seen many changes, logo change has been limited. This is the secret to perform the impact of customers.
General Electric
General Electric is one more brand that is counted among the 10 best. Its first logo was utilized in 1892 on the company’s establishment. Since its inception, GE made some minute modifications to the logo, without shifting the unique style. The most palpable change is the insertion of blue color. This uniformity in the logo has played an important role in the strength of the brand.

Question by Bren: How does Vat 69 compare to an Irish Whiskey like Jameson’s or Bushmills?
After a recommendation from a friend I am curious about Vat 69. I usually prefer Irish whiskey over scotch, but I am a little curious about this legendary brand based on the emphatic suggestion my friend made.

Best answer:

Answer by Mike Mclain
Vat 69 is a blended scotch whiskey. It’s also a cheap scotch.Jameson & Bushmill’s are much more comparable to a single malt scotch not a blended one, Glenfidich which is a .good example of a single malt

If you like a scotch flavor, I’d stick with the Irish whiskey or a single malt scotch.

The vat 69 will taste like water in comparison.

Want to feel truly Celtic even if you are not? Come celebrate all things Scottish. From the lilting steps of Highland dancers to the melodies of the bagpipes, you’ll find it all at the Gatlinburg Scottish Highland Games. This annual event has held a place in the hearts and minds of both the Scottish descendants in Gatlinburg and visitors for nearly 3 decades. This year, the 30th annual event looks to continue this fine tradition.

The Gatlinburg Scottish Highland Games takes place on May 13 and 14, 2011. This weekend celebration sees the clans gathering once more within scenic Mills Park. The backdrop of the beautiful Smoky Mountains conjures up visions of the Highlands, creating the ideal atmosphere. Be prepared to embrace the Scottish heritage you may (or may not) have in your blood, as you gather for the early morning parade. This marks the start of a fun-filled, colorful event for the entire family.

The parade assembles at Stop Light Number 10 in the city of Gatlinburg. All people of Scottish ancestry are asked to join the march. You can stand and watch, as the parade winds down the Parkway. Or, join the fun by proudly waving your clan’s crest and colors. It’s all part of the local commitment to honoring a strong Celtic heritage in the Smokies. Afterward, discover your own Scottish ancestry at one of the many clan booths.

According to tradition, the Gatlinburg Scottish Highland Games honors a different clan annually. This year, it’s the Clan MacLaren. This fierce, proud, warrior clan had many enemies, but forged a marriage with the powerful Clan Stuart. You’ll feel the Scottish pride and strength surge when the pipe and drum corps play, battling it out in a intense competition.

And what would a Scottish festival be without Highland dancers? Be there when the finest dancers from across the United States take the stage to compete for honor and trophies.

What other fun awaits you? There are feats of strength and skill, as professional and amateur athletes vie for prizes and bragging rights in various traditional events. See them tossing the caber or wrestle, Highland style. They will hurl the haggis, throwing it with both speed and accuracy, while standing atop a traditional whiskey barrel. Various athletes will also engage in stone putting, weight toss and even the Scottish hammer throw.

Humans are not the only athletes on show this day. Watch how border collies herd sheep. Talk to their trainers and discover more about the history of these beautiful and intelligent dogs before you see them display their highly tuned (and completely amazing) skills right before your eyes.

The entire event is filled with the best Scotland has to offer from meals of haggis, delicious shortbread and other delicious foods to booths selling traditional Celtic wares.

Explore music CDs, handcrafted fine silver jewelry, books, custom-knitted sweaters and other fine examples of Scottish clothing. These make excellent presents and souvenirs of a day, or two, well spent.

The Gatlinburg Scottish Highland Games is a celebration that draws out the Celtic tendencies in you. Come discover a distinct cultural heritage you may not have otherwise known about. When you get your Scot on, you are bound for fun on an international scale.
